Emily

Emily is a very special dress to me. She was insipired by a very special person in my life, who holds the most significance in my heart. Even though Emily isn't my favorite dress that I created she still is memorable to me.

Let's get started before I revel everything in the first paragraph. Emily was inspired by my mother Nelda. I know it seems silly that I didn't name the dress after her however, every detail is her. I didn't have any reason to name her Emily,  I just looked at it and said "she looks like an Emily" and that was enough reason to name her Emily. I gave Emily what I call simple drama detail. The flowers make it dramtic but the color of the dress tones it down keeping her more simple and beautiful. This keeps the dress from being overdone. The details that are my mother, are the design of the dress, the colors, and the flowered details. When I think of my mother I look at her style as beautiful, conservative, and she's not afraid of pattern. Which is why I made Emily conservative with the sleeve cut at the top trying to hide the sweetheart neckline. I added the creame color for the entire dress because my mom wears alot of neautrals and it looks beautiful on her! I know light cream colors don't look good on everyone not even me. My mom has gorgeous porcelain skin the opposite of my deep tan skin and therefore, this cream color would amazing on her. So the color of the dress had to work well with her sweet snow white skin. I added the purple flowers because purple is her favorite color and there's a lot of flowers throught the dress because like I said she loves her patterns. When going through my sketch book my mom found the dress and was in love with it! Little did she know that she was my inspiration for the dress. I spent lots of time when I was little shopping with my mom, so it was easy to figure out her style right away. In a way my mom also is the reason why I fell so in love with clothes and fashion because she would always take me to what she and I call "girl day." Looking at all the clothes in my younger years  fashion has been my life since then. It also gave me an eye for art. My mom has influenced my artistic side from the beginning of my life, she often took me to plays, art museums, libararies, and bought all my sketch books and crayons. I couldn't be more thankful to have a mother like her who showed me the world through art. She has given me the ability to see things in a different light. She has never given up on me and my dreams. She has always encouraged me to keep going, even when I struggled in school. I'm so glad she opened so many doors for me and guided me towards who I wanted to be, and towards who I am now. Thank you mom for making my world sparkle and shine!

So since this whole entire post was about my mother, I want all of you readers to go out there and hug your mothers and tell her how special she is! I know I'm not the only one with a special mom. If you look around everyone's mother has made an impact on their life. If your mom inspires you to become a nurse, or a lawyer, or even if she inspires you to be a better woman or man, or even makes you realize your true potiental, a mother will always have an impact on you. My mom is my role model and I am proud to be her daughter. So for those of you out there remember this about your mother "It takes someone really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself."- anonumous. Thank you again mothers, for being brave, strong, and loving us unconditionally.
