Barbra
Hello citizens of Gotham! I am back with another blog post for ya! This weeks dress is Barbra inspired by the famous batgirl. Barbra Gordan was and excuse my langauge but a total badass. She was a librarian by day and side kick to Mr. Batman at night. Barbra was comissioner Gordon's daughter and she wasn't going to let batman have all the fun fighting crime by himself. She is known for her intelligence and fiestiness throught the comics. I guess this is why I chose Barbra as my inspration for my first ever Halloween costume design.
I ain't afraid of no joker! I added a ton of elements to Barbra's costume and I used elements from her actual batgirl suit to stick to the whole batgirl theme. Batgirl's suit is orginally purple and gold even though most of you know batman is remembered for his black suit, relating to the bat. I gave her a turtle neck to hide Barbras's true identity, she wears a mask that gives her disguise so I wanted to disguise the top part of her body. Batgirl has the famous bat symbol on the top so I put a poorly drawn batgirl symbol on the center of the costume. It wouldn't be a batgirl costume without the bat logo. The edgy sleeves were inspired by the triangluar ends of a bats wings, The gloves that Batgirl wears actually are pointy as well which is why I added there so it could look cool and you know be like a little weapon to protect herself from all the villains out there trying to destroy Gotham city. Batgirl has a utility belt in case she needs to get batman out of trouble or save someone from danger, so if she needed it i added it to the waist, again I placed another bat to give her a trademark. Lastly, Barbra was given a big purple tutu because I wanted to feel fun and girly while I wore the costume. Batgirl loves to fight crime and it gives her some sort of excitment in her life and whats more fun than having a double life. It's Halloween, I feel like you can go crazy with the most far fetched idea you've ever had and use it to your advantage. I thought if you can go big go big or go home cause nothing is too much on Halloween. So hey if I want to wear a tutu for Halloween I WILL! I know Batgirl does not have a tutu but mine does cause she's a super cool chick who knows how to have fun and looks good while fighting crime. I wanted to actually make the costume for you to show you the final look but I've been pretty busy so I just purchased my own Batgirl costume for Halloween.
At the end of the day an anonoymus person once said "Be strong, when you are weak, be brave when you are scared, be humble, when you are victorious, be badass everyday." Be your own hero, be a hero , but don't ever back down and don't ever give up. Have an awesome Halloween folks, and I hope you had fun reading this blog. Enjoy.

Charlotte
Say hello to miss charlotte! Charlotte is beautiful all around... When I look at this dress I instantly feel the charm it brings. Charlotte is sexy and beautiful and when I started drawing her I felt like she was going to be an instant masterpiece in my eyes. I wish this creation of mine would just pop out of the paper so I could wear her whenever I wanted. If I had such a dress in my possession I would wear Charlotte when I wasnted to feel charming and sexy.
The inspiration for Charlotte was on of my favorite characters from Sex In the City. I love Charlotte York's sense of style. I gave Charlotte some colars on top of the dress around the sweet heart neckline because Charlotte York's style is very groomed and proper and she has that white colar look almost rich and extravagant. Charlotte York's style is also very simple you don't have to try so hard to make simpicity beautiful. I added the buttons to the dress because I wanted Charlotte to look very sleek and very Upper East looking where everyone is so prim and well dressed. The buttons bring a more put together look to her. I gave Charlotte a bouncey ruffled ball gown because I wanted to get the whole vintage modern princess look down. To me Charlotte York is the ultimate modern princess of new york, she was so preppy, so sofisticated, and she never liked when everything didn't go perfectly. Bottom line the ultimate perfectionist and like a royal everything must go the queen's way. Charlotte's style is also very soft and feminine and what better way to do feminine than by adding a little floral pattern to the top of the dress. Charlotte York is the perfect mix of all the vintage queens of the 50's/60's like Elizabeth Taylor,Audrey Hepburn, and Jackie O'. I think that's why I adore Charlotte's style and was inspired to do something similar to her style from the show becaue I LOVE these women's styles, because they were so classy and elegant without being over done. I find something so beautiful about the classy style you can't go wrong with wearing a little black dress and some pearls(the perfect outfit.) This dress is the perfect example of how a woman can go from Paris Hilton to a Elizabeth Taylor, you just instantly feel like a ten. I believe fashion is a statement it can change your mood instantly by wearing the perfect pair of pumps, or putting on the right shade of red lipstick. I know that maybe the idea of this dress maybe inspired by a old fashioned Hollywood idols but I wanted to feel as if I stepped into a time machine and brought the classiness of old Hollywood back but also being true to my modern generation.
Charlotte York was an optimistic she belived in the perfect love life and in all that happily ever after idea. She was able to achieve her ultimate goals and dreams in life. I think we all need to be more optimistic. I can't say that I believe in everything, and I can't say there is such a thing as the happily ever after, but we should think more positively and have faith that everything is to fall into place. You can have a little faith by telling yourself that you can do anything that is possiable. Be that type of person that is like yeah I can gradutate next year, I can pass the test next week, I can get that part in the play. "Si se puede!" You want it go for it, a positive attitude leads to great things. Anonymus says "Put your postive pants on." Or as I like to say be a Charlotte and put on your best face forward.

Madelyn
Madelyn, is the dress of opulence. I created her through a grand vision. She is inspired by so many objects, and ideas. I wanted her to be like a queen of nature. When I pictured a Madelyn in my mind she is the glamorous high class woman. She is the bold one who makes descions without impulse. Madelyn is full of joy, and happiness. I feel like if someone where to wear this dress all heads would be turning towards her. Madelyn is the life of the party. I feel like Madelyn provides some strong look to her. I wanted Madelyn to have tons of charm. I believe to see her as a dress with real charm, and there is nothing like her.
Madelyn's inspirtation was wealth and royalty. I wanted something beyond over the top extreamly detailed and unique. I gave her purple roses throught the dress because you don't see purple roses in nature giving her some uniqueness. I wanted her to be rich in beauty and nauture. I saw her as a woodland nymph a delicate yet powerful creature. Think of Madelyn as the queen of the willies in the classic ballet Giselle. I was inspired by a powerful mythical creature, hence, the flowers and the roses and the grand ball gown. Madelyn contains a lilac colored belt because lilacs symbolize love, also it is one of my favorite colors. I love the softness it gives. I wanted Madelyn to be the classic dress everyone loves and can't get out of their head. Madelyn has layers of daisys because I wanted the dress to look like a flower as a whole and the layers of flowers and tulle give her a petal like look. The daisies are sign of innocence. Madelyn isn't reveling like the few dresses that I have created because I loved the idea of purity. If Madelyn was going to be like the queen of nature I wanted her to be like a pure untouched flower. Madelyn was also inspired by the Virgin Mary because she is the symbolism of grace and purity. I wanted Madelyn to be like the Virgin queen, delicate and graceful but still very powerful and important. Madelyn's inspiration came from the Roman myth of Vertumnus vs, Belides. The myth is a story of a man named Vertumnus falls for a small nymph named Belides. Vertumnus becomes obsessed with Belides, however, Belides does not take intrest in Vertumns so she turns herself into a feild of daisies to prevent herself from hurting Vertumnus's feelings. If Madelyn was an actual nymph I feel like she would be like Belides herself. She would avoid confrontation at all costs in order to keep the peace. Madelyn would do it in the most beautiful way too. Madelyn's layers are green because I wanted her nature vibe to show through. Green symbolizes wealth and growth. Madelyn is like the growth of nature, shes so natural and beautiful.
Since Madelyn was inspired by royalty, I wanted to make you feel royal in your own way. You are your own queen or king. You are in control of your own life. I hope you continue to have pure thoughts, and be graceful. Being a king or queen to me means that you take charge in order to keep peace with others. You are bold in your own life. Anonymus says "Always wear an invisble crown." Even if you aren't an actual king or queen you can still do things in your own way and you can continue to be important gracfully. Take charge without being bossy or mean. Pretend that you have an invisable crown because you are significant. You are speical, and unique, you should always act like it.

Emily
Let's get started before I revel everything in the first paragraph. Emily was inspired by my mother Nelda. I know it seems silly that I didn't name the dress after her however, every detail is her. I didn't have any reason to name her Emily, I just looked at it and said "she looks like an Emily" and that was enough reason to name her Emily. I gave Emily what I call simple drama detail. The flowers make it dramtic but the color of the dress tones it down keeping her more simple and beautiful. This keeps the dress from being overdone. The details that are my mother, are the design of the dress, the colors, and the flowered details. When I think of my mother I look at her style as beautiful, conservative, and she's not afraid of pattern. Which is why I made Emily conservative with the sleeve cut at the top trying to hide the sweetheart neckline. I added the creame color for the entire dress because my mom wears alot of neautrals and it looks beautiful on her! I know light cream colors don't look good on everyone not even me. My mom has gorgeous porcelain skin the opposite of my deep tan skin and therefore, this cream color would amazing on her. So the color of the dress had to work well with her sweet snow white skin. I added the purple flowers because purple is her favorite color and there's a lot of flowers throught the dress because like I said she loves her patterns. When going through my sketch book my mom found the dress and was in love with it! Little did she know that she was my inspiration for the dress. I spent lots of time when I was little shopping with my mom, so it was easy to figure out her style right away. In a way my mom also is the reason why I fell so in love with clothes and fashion because she would always take me to what she and I call "girl day." Looking at all the clothes in my younger years fashion has been my life since then. It also gave me an eye for art. My mom has influenced my artistic side from the beginning of my life, she often took me to plays, art museums, libararies, and bought all my sketch books and crayons. I couldn't be more thankful to have a mother like her who showed me the world through art. She has given me the ability to see things in a different light. She has never given up on me and my dreams. She has always encouraged me to keep going, even when I struggled in school. I'm so glad she opened so many doors for me and guided me towards who I wanted to be, and towards who I am now. Thank you mom for making my world sparkle and shine!
So since this whole entire post was about my mother, I want all of you readers to go out there and hug your mothers and tell her how special she is! I know I'm not the only one with a special mom. If you look around everyone's mother has made an impact on their life. If your mom inspires you to become a nurse, or a lawyer, or even if she inspires you to be a better woman or man, or even makes you realize your true potiental, a mother will always have an impact on you. My mom is my role model and I am proud to be her daughter. So for those of you out there remember this about your mother "It takes someone really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself."- anonumous. Thank you again mothers, for being brave, strong, and loving us unconditionally.

Aria
ARIA. Aria is like my beloved child. I made Aria with lots of love and lots of thought. I love her beauty and simplicity. There's something so magical to her. I can't say that I named Aria a specific name cause it wasn't very hard to think about her. In my deepest thought I looked at Aria almost as if Aria was my own baby. If I were to have a child in all honesty she would be named Aria, and so therefore I just gave her this name just because it sounded so beautiful. There was a lot of playfulness to her as well almost childlike but still very sophisticated at the same time.
Aria's inspiration didn't come from much. I got inspired by the fairytale Alice in wonderland. I didn't necessary get inspired by the characters but rather the whimsicality of the story. I gave Aria a fun mauve/ fuchsia color keeping her uniqueness just like the original fairytale. I wanted to give her a fun beaded bodice with lace to add on some magic to it. To me Aria is a mystical princess intrapped in a strange land like Wonderland, Therefore I gave her a big ballgown because when you think of a princess you think of a ballgown right? Aria also comes with butterflies because in the magical tale of Alice in wonderland there are creatures who are breaded butterflies, hence the reason why the butterflies that are a little bronze gold. Like I said earlier Aria was given child playfulness as well with the butterflies, I was also inspired by a small childhood memory when I'd run around in my back yard trying to catch butterflies, I had become so in love with butterflies since then. Every now and then I would throw in butterflies into my drawings because there is something so beautiful about butterflies, each one unique with it's own color of wings. My other inspiration for Aria was Cinderella. I was watching 2015's Cinderella movie and I realized that the butterfly was placed like a symbol throught the movie like the iconic slippers, and dress. Cinderella's parents also had butterflies throught the house, and in begining of the movie Cinderella's father had given young Cinderella a paper butterfly as a gift in which she kept until she was a grown adult. I gave Aria's butterflies different sizes because butterflies symbolize growth and transformations. As human beings we go through transformations of life we start off as innocent children like Alice and grow to be adults on a path to our destination. Aria brings out the child in me, in many ways I grew up to believe in the beauty in all things, even when our idea of beauty changes through life. To me Aria symbolizes time, in time everything changes and we have to grow up, and become who we were meant to be. Time is everything, time is precious. I cherish my childhood chasing butterflies in my back yard and lying in the grass wondering about what my future was going to be like. I guess you could say I lived in a fantasy life believing in fairytales like Cinderella, knights in shinning armors, princes, castles, mermaids, and magical lands like Wonderland. However like the butterfly my state of mind changed and I realized we make our own fairytales, princes no longer exsist, we are own knight and shinning armors, mermaids are just the fish in the sea, you have to work for your own dream castles, Wonderland is just place you go to when your fast asleep, and happily ever after exsists once you become truely happy with your own life.
So my dear readers Aria is the reflection for my past, present and future. I hope you can open up your eyes today and make your own fairytales come true. Stay true to who you are and don't forget about your own innerchild, because that child inside of you can unleash the most beautiful things in your heart. Take your time with your dreams because it's worth it. Today my inner child is proud of me because her fairytale is almost falling into place, she is in college and is one year away till she graduates, she is close to happily ever after on her way to her true destination and on her way to her dream castle. Anonymus author says "Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your Priorites straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well and dress really well. Do what you love, love what you do. It is time to start living." Be this quote and you can never go wrong.
